User Guide for this Gamepad Tester Tool

Getting Started

  • Connect your gamepad to your device via USB or Bluetooth before opening the tester.
  • Make sure your gamepad is recognized by your operating system before using the tester.
  • The connection status will automatically update when a controller is connected or disconnected.
  • If multiple controllers are connected, the tester will use the first detected controller by default.

Testing Analog Sticks

  • Move the analog sticks to see their position represented on the circular displays.
  • The dotted circle represents the deadzone - stick movement within this area won't register.
  • Test both sticks for smooth movement in all directions.
  • Check for stick drift by leaving the sticks untouched - the dots should remain centered.

Button Testing

  • Press each button to see it highlight in blue when activated.
  • Test D-pad directions individually.
  • Check L3 and R3 by pressing down on the analog sticks.
  • All buttons should respond immediately when pressed and released.

Trigger and Bumper Testing

  • Press the triggers (L2/R2) to see the pressure level indicators fill up.
  • Test for smooth trigger response throughout the full range of motion.
  • Check that bumpers (L1/R1) register clearly when pressed.
  • Analog triggers should show varying levels based on how hard you press.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • If your controller isn't detected, try unplugging and reconnecting it.
  • Some browsers may require you to press a button on the controller first to activate it.
  • Vibration testing may not work on all controllers or browsers.
  • If inputs seem delayed or sticky, try using the Reset button to clear the current state.
  • For wireless controllers, ensure the battery level is adequate for proper testing.
This gamepad tester works best with standard gamepad layouts (Xbox, PlayStation, etc.). Some specialized controllers may show different button mappings.
