Merge PDF

Add your files, put them in order, and combine them.

Choose your PDFs, or drop them here Add as many as you like — they combine in the order shown below Stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

Combining documents without handing them over

Add the files, reorder them with the arrows, and they are joined into a single PDF with every page preserved exactly as it was. Text stays text, links keep working, and nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed.

Order is everything

The list is the running order. Files are numbered as you add them, and the arrows move them up and down — useful when your file manager sorted them alphabetically and "page10" landed before "page2".

What survives the merge

  • Page content — copied intact, not re-drawn.
  • Selectable text and any embedded fonts.
  • Page sizes and orientations, including mixed ones. A4 and Letter pages can live in the same file quite happily.
  • Links within a page.

What does not carry over: bookmarks and the outline tree, form field data, and digital signatures — a signature covers a specific file, so changing that file necessarily invalidates it.

Size is roughly additive

Merging does not compress. A 2 MB and a 3 MB file make roughly a 5 MB file, sometimes slightly less where both used the same fonts and they can be shared.

Common uses

  • Scans that came out as one file per page.
  • An application pack — CV, cover letter, certificates — that has to be submitted as a single document.
  • Combining receipts or invoices for an expense claim.
  • Assembling chapters or sections into one report.

Questions people ask

How many PDFs can I merge?

As many as your device's memory allows. There is no server limit because there is no server.

Can I change the order?

Yes. The arrows move files up and down, and the numbered list is the running order.

Do bookmarks survive?

No. Page content, text and links are copied, but the outline tree, form data and digital signatures are not carried over.

Will the merged file be smaller?

No. Merging does not compress, so the result is roughly the sum of the inputs.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. It is read and rewritten in your browser. This site has no server that could receive it.

Does it work with a password-protected PDF?

Not reliably. An encrypted file has to be unlocked before it can be changed. Open it in a reader, enter the password, and save an unprotected copy first.

Is there a file size limit?

Only your device's memory. There is no server limit and no queue, though very large files will take a moment and use a fair amount of RAM.

Your file is not uploaded

This is the whole point of the page, so it is worth being exact about it.

Every well-known site offering these tools works by sending your PDF to their servers, processing it there, and sending a result back. For a holiday itinerary that is merely unnecessary. For a contract, a payslip, a medical letter, a bank statement or a scan of your passport, it means handing a private document to a company you have never dealt with, to be held for an unspecified time on infrastructure you cannot inspect.

Nothing here is uploaded. Your browser reads the file from your disk, rewrites it in memory, and hands you the result. The site is a set of static files with no server capable of receiving a document.

The libraries doing the work are served from this site rather than borrowed from someone else's CDN, so using these pages does not make a request to any third party either. You can check that on the about page, which lists every request this site makes, read live from your own browser.

It also means it works offline once loaded, there is no file size limit beyond your own memory, and there is no queue.
